Company History

Zenvo Automotive was founded with one goal in mind. To produce a unique hand built supercar. The developing of the prototype started in 2004. The prototype is completed and the car is in the last testing phase. In 2009 Zenvo Automotive will start the series production of the car, Zenvo ST1. It will be a very limited edition and only 15 cars will be built and sold to special approved customers.
The idea behind the car was to hand build a high performance super car which will meet today´s standards but still keep the original and unique feeling of driving a supercar. The car will have excessive power due to both supercharger and turbo, but will still be drivable for everyday use.
The car is 100% build in Denmark and the design is a result of Danish design. The developing and production are taking place in our hyper modern production hall with all the best equipment available. Since we work very tight with most of our partners we try to use local suppliers. This makes us able to communicate better and to follow the developing much closer to obtain the best possible result.

2013 Vauxhall Adam

2013 Vauxhall Adam

November 6, 2012. Vauxhall Adam, the stylish urban-chic newcomer, is poised to take the fashion-led A-sector by storm when it arrives in the UK in early 2013. With over a million different specification and trim combinations, Adam introduces unprecedented levels of personalisation into this style conscious segment, giving every customer the chance to create a truly bespoke Adam reflecting their individual style and personality.
The all-new funky three-door hatchback measures 3.70 metres in length and 1.72 metres in width, seats four people comfortably, and is Vauxhall's first entrant into a segment which has grown by 30 per cent since 2000. Adam continues Vauxhall's rapid product offensive which will see four incremental segment introductions in just 18 months (Ampera, Mokka, Adam and upcoming Cascada). Keenly positioned within the segment, prices range from £11,255 (Adam JAM 1.2-litre 70PS) up to £14,000 (Adam SLAM 1.4-litre 100PS).
2013 Vauxhall Adam,

2013 Vauxhall Adam,

Personalisation begins with the selection of one of three trim levels - Adam JAM (fashionable/colourful) - Adam GLAM (elegant/sophisticated) and Adam SLAM (racy/sporty). The next level of customisation comes with the addition of option packs, and from here the possibilities are virtually endless, with the choice of 12 body colours, 15 seat designs, 20 alloy wheel styles, three printed headliners and no less than 18 interior décor panels, to mention just a few.
Ground breaking customisation is matched with forward thinking technology introductions. Exclusive to Adam, IntelliLink, the new on-board infotainment system, integrates the owner's smartphone (Android and Apple iOS) with the car, making internet based applications available on the facia mounted touch screen. Other features include a new-generation Park Assist that automatically parks the car, a Side Blind Spot Alert and a power steering system including a 'light touch' CITY mode.
"Thanks to its striking design and class-leading technologies, Adam will attract young and young-at-heart customers from both genders," said Vauxhall Marketing Director Peter Hope. "These customers have attitude and want their cars to reflect their personality. They are fashion conscious and place great value on individuality; they don't just follow trends, they create them."
Adam will not only reach out to loyal Vauxhall customers, it will also attract those who had not previously considered the brand with more than half of the predicted sales coming from new customers. Typically for a car of this type the majority of sales (80 per cent) will be to private buyers, however thanks to its unique tailoring potential it is also expected to become a statement vehicle in the business car arena for companies wishing to strengthen their brand.
Adam arrives at a key point in Vauxhall's product offensive. Since 2008, Vauxhall has completely reshaped its model line-up, starting with the flagship Insignia, continuing with its major volume models, and now entering new segments with the Ampera (extended range electric car), the Mokka (small SUV), and the upcoming Cascada (full-size convertible).
"Adam is yet another example of not just a new Vauxhall, but one that takes us into a new market sector," said Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall's Chairman and Managing Director. "With Ampera and Mokka, that makes three such cars this year, and next year we'll see the Cascada convertible, too. This is a new chapter in Vauxhall's 110 year history, and we're confident that it will introduce a fresh audience to the brand."

DESIGN

Unlike other rivals in the segment, the Vauxhall Adam bucks the trend and moves away from retro-based design opting instead for a fresh striking execution with a clear focus on innovation, personalisation and quality.

Malcolm Ward, Vauxhall/Opel Design Director said: "There was an outstanding 'can do' spirit and vibrant energy within the team when we created Adam; it's amazing to see so many of the original ideas generated in the early creative phase making it into production. Thanks to this incredibly fresh and audacious approach, Adam can be personalised more than any car in the segment with virtually unlimited exterior and interior colour, fabric, décor and wheel combination possibilities."

Everything about the Vauxhall Adam's design is deliberate, reflecting individuality and premium quality. For example the eye-catching 'floating' roof is visually disconnected from the body; not only is this a stunning design feature it also allows the perfect execution of two-tone colour combinations, a key focus for exterior customisation.

Moving to the name badge, normally you would find this on the rear of the car but with Adam it is positioned at the end of the chrome 'signature' window moulding on the rear pillar adding to its unique appeal. State of the art LED lights are also found at both the front and rear - a first in the fashion-led A-sector adding to Adam's premium feel.

Undoubtedly fresh and new, Adam clearly retains Vauxhall's award winning sculptural design DNA. The blade featured in the lower door and the crisp 'shock wave' around the handles is reminiscent of the Astra GTC; the wing-shaped chrome grille bar reflects New Astra and the headlamps featuring wing-shaped daytime running lights are also typical Vauxhall design features.

Inside the cabin the premium feel continues to deliver on Adam's upmarket exterior promise. Sculptured harmonious surfaces and graceful flowing lines, synonymous with Vauxhall Adam's bigger brothers the Insignia, Meriva and Astra, complement the all new premium clock-like instrument displays and chrome bezeled switches.

INDIVIDUALISATION - EXTERIOR

Adam's three trim levels - JAM (fashionable /colourful), GLAM (elegant/sophisticated) and SLAM (racy/sporty) are merely the starting point for a high degree of personalisation.

Customers then have the choice of 12 uniquely named body colours, such as 'I'll be Black', 'Papa don't Peach', 'Purple Fiction', 'James Blonde', 'Saturday White Fever' and 'Buzz Lightgreen'.

Next comes Adam's roof: this can be given the same colour as the body or for a more contrasting look customers can choose from one of three finishes - glossy 'I'll be Black', light cream 'White my Fire' or the dark and rich 'Men in Brown'. A large glass sunroof can also be specified on Adam JAM and Adam SLAM and comes as standard on Adam GLAM and is available in combination with all exterior colours.

For those wishing to sharpen their Vauxhall Adam a little further, three option packs are available for each trim level: two-tone 'Black' or 'White Pack'; flamboyant 'Twisted Pack'; or the bold 'Extreme Pack'. The 'Black Pack' offers extra elegance with the roof, exterior mirrors and rims all stylishly finished in black, with the 'White Pack' offering the same effect but with a white finish. The 'Twisted Pack' shines with colourful exterior mirrors, grille bar, rims and interior décor. This finish is green or red on Adam JAM, brown or red on Adam GLAM and red on Adam SLAM. The Extreme pack makes the car absolutely unmistakable with eye-catching wheels and bold designs on the mirrors, grille bar paintwork and interior décor

And for those wishing to go further still there is a choice of three different decal packages: 'Splat' for the Adam JAM; 'fly' for the Adam GLAM; and 'Stripes' for the Adam SLAM. These can be applied to the mirrors, side and rear of the car. Even Adam'S key is down to personal choice, and is coloured to match the body colour of the car.

Moving to the wheels, in total Vauxhall Adam is offered with the choice of 20 different wheel designs and colours in sizes ranging for 16" to 18". Rims such as 'Vintage' and 'Horns' offer a classic look while, 'Boomerang', 'Hurricane', 'Turbine' and 'Twister' turn heads with more unconventional contemporary designs.

In keeping with Adam's core values even after the customer has taken the car home some of the 18inch wheel designs can be changed again and again with the application of interchangeable coloured clips. Available in six different coloured sets the clips lock onto the five spokes of the rim. These can be the same colour of the body or can be mixed and matched for a more vibrant look, and if customers become bored, they can simply change them. Vauxhall is the first manufacturer to offer this unique design feature.

INDIVIDUALISATION - INTERIOR

Vauxhall Adam's cabin, if anything, has an even higher potential for personalisation than its exterior, so this section simply provides a broad overview of just some of the highlights.

There is a choice of four base colours: Black, Cocoa, Purple and White. These combine with 15 different seat trims which are offered in a broad choice of materials and colours.

Customers can then choose one of 18 different décor panels for the facia and doors surrounds. These panels can be ordered separately meaning that, like the wheel clips, Vauxhall Adam's interior can be constantly tailored to suit the changing taste of the owner, or subsequent owners. Among the 18 panels, 11 are painted to complement the exterior colour, eight are covered with a premium foil featuring decorative patterns of which two 'Silver Fireflies' and 'Gold Fireflies' are backlit by LED's giving a soft glowing appearance - another industry first for Vauxhall.

This exclusive design element is combined with the ambient lighting package which illuminates the door pockets, centre console and passenger footwell. As part of this package, seven different coloured lighting settings can be selected at the touch of a button. Owners have the freedom to pick just one of the eight colours which include red, two amber tones, yellow, green, blue, ice blue and white to light the cabin. If they can't decide, they can switch the setting to continuously change through the spectrum of colours. Again this underscores Adam's virtually unlimited potential for personalisation.

Inside the cabin roof can also be customised to suit every taste. Thanks to yet another industry first the roof can be tailored with the application of printed headliners, one of which is backlit by LED's.

Three motifs are available 'Sky' showing blue skies and white clouds, 'fly' giving the appearance of failing autumn leaves and 'Go' a chequered flag design. 'Starlight', the final roof headliner and by far the most spectacular, is illuminated by 64 LED lights giving the impression of a starry night sky. This stunning feature is something normally only seen on the world's most expensive limousines and is an absolute first within the segment.

FORWARD THINKING TECHNOLOGY

Vauxhall Adam's innovative personalisation solutions are matched by its forward-thinking technology introductions. Bringing many qualities from the upper segments in to the fashion-led A-segment for the first time Adam is not only a head turner it is also highly intelligent!

Adam's biggest technology highlight is 'IntelliLink', an all-new infotainment system which connects the owners smartphone (Apple iOS and Android) with the car making Vauxhall Adam the best connected car on the market.

The IntelliLink infotainment system brings content from a smartphone onto the cars seven-inch, high resolution, full colour touch-screen display. Connectivity is provided via USB or Bluetooth for mass storage devices, including MP3 players, iPod, iPad, etc. The system, which is the first of its kind compatible with both Apple iOS and Andriod applications, enables personal playlists, photo galleries, phone books, other stored media and data to be accessed easily via the touch-screen in the car. Videos and personalised slide shows can also be viewed on the screen when Adam is stationary.

Thanks to the smartphone link owners will also be able to access internet-based approved apps via the IntelliLink touch screen. Apps such as Stitcher, the global podcast internet radio that lets users listen to programs live or after they have been broadcast, and BringGo a navigation app which offers maps for Western and Eastern Europe, will be available from launch with further apps coming later.

Highly intuitive, the IntelliLink system not only looks great but is easy to use. Five main menus can be accessed via the touch screen:

Audio: The user can choose between AM/FM/DAB radio or his/her own personal playlists contained in the smartphone or storage device. IntelliLink uses the Gracenote music organisation for USB music devices which provides song information and album art. Gracenote is resident in the radio memory.

Telephone: Hands-free phone calls can be made without dialling: the driver can select a name from the stored directory featuring up to 1,000 contacts visible on the touch-screen, touch the 'call' function and project the call through the vehicle's speakers.

Gallery: Personal photo galleries, slide shows, videos and other stored documents can also be accessed easily via USB connection (and Aux-in for videos for iOS Smartphones) and viewed when Adam is stationary. Visuals naturally appear on the 7-inch touch-screen and sound comes from the car's speakers.

Apps: Apps stored in the smartphone enhance IntelliLink's capabilities. At launch, the BringGo navigation App and Stitcher, an app allowing access to radio podcasts, will be available (further information below). Further apps will be available at a later stage.

Car settings: The basic car settings are also accessible and can be modified via IntelliLink: language (23 languages are available), time, date, radio settings (volume, balance, fader, etc…) and connection settings can be controlled according to the driver's individual tastes. In addition, information about climate control and Park Assist systems are also displayed on IntelliLink's 7-inch screen.

Selected apps that are compatible for smartphones using both Android and Apple iOS operating systems can be downloaded from the internet. For example, the BringGo navigation system will soon be available from the App Store and can be downloaded as a map version for Eastern and Western Europe. Once the app has been downloaded, the map data remains installed on the smartphone. This means that owners do not need a broadband connection to use BringGo and therefore do not need to pay any roaming fees while abroad.

As BringGo always remains on the phone owners will also have the added benefit of continued guidance should they wish to complete journeys by foot or bike. A further benefit comes in the system's ability to connect to internet search engines. For example, if an Adam owner wanted to find a restaurant or hotel, they can just run a name search on the search engine and the results will then be automatically displayed on the BringGo map.

Another useful App which will be offered for IntelliLink is Stitcher, a global podcast internet radio that lets users listen to programs live or after they have been broadcast. Once Stitcher is downloaded onto the smartphone, Adam's owner can access more than 10,000 podcasts on demand, radio shows and live stations around the world via the IntelliLink touch-screen.

Available at the affordable price of just £275 the state of the art IntelliLink is option on all Adams with the standard infotainment kit containing CD / DAB Radio and Bluetooth connectivity. For those needing the ultimate sound experience an infinity sound system offering eight speakers including five 45 watt units and a 90 Watt subwoofer is also available.

Another debut for Adam is Advanced Park Assist II, a system which has never been seen before in a Vauxhall production car. Drivers engage the system with a button on the dashboard and it tells them when they reach a parking space large enough to accommodate the car. The system then automatically steers them into the parking space, with the driver only needing to control the brake, clutch and gears. APA II uses ultrasonic sensors to work its magic, and always comes in combination with Side Blind Spot Alert (SBSA).

Vauxhall Adam's electrical power steering system also benefits from a dedicated CITY mode which at the flick of a switch increases power assistance at lower speeds. Offered as standard across the range this will be particularly useful in busy urban environments. Also standard is a comprehensive ESP plus system with functions such as Hill Start Assist and Cruise control with a speed limiter, allowing the driver to set a maximum speed. Optional features not usually found in this sector include a heated steering wheel and automatic dimming rear view mirror. Also Vauxhall's clever Flex-Fix bike carrier is available on Adam. The system which is integrated into the car's bumper pulls out when needed to securely carry a bike weighing up to 30kg; an additional clip can also be purchased to allow a second bike of up to 20kg to be carried if required.

Vauxhall Adam is not only stylish, innovative and intelligent it is also safe and comfortable. Passengers in Adam are protected by a very rigid passenger cell that is mainly fabricated from high-strength steel. They benefit from newly engineered front seats with excellent comfort and safety performance and are protected by a comprehensive airbag system comprising two front, two thorax/pelvis side and two head curtain airbags.

CHASSIS

With its chassis geared towards agile driving dynamics, the Vauxhall Adam is not just at home on city streets but also on country roads. The compact wheelbase of 2,311mm is combined with an impressively wide tread of 1,472mm in the front and 1,464mm in the rear giving Adam its solid stance on the road and excellent stability.

The chassis - with MacPherson struts at the front and compound crank at the rear - was developed for crisp agility and optimal handling in the city without making any compromises in the country road driving dynamics. UK Adam's will also benefit from a UK-specific steering system which has been tuned specifically for the UK roads.

At the same time, Vauxhall Adam's low center of gravity makes it grip the road, especially in tight curves. Dampers were tuned to the challenges of city driving. Wheel sizes range from 16" to 18", and cars that are specified with 17" or 18" rims come standard with a more tensed Sport chassis which delivers an even crisper steering feeling.

ENGINES

Vauxhall Adam is initially offered with three efficient petrol engines - 1.2-litre 70PS, 1.4-litre 87PS and 1.4-litre 100PS. All are mated to a five-speed manual transmission and can be specified with an ecoFLEX technology pack that further enhances their efficiency. The 1.4-litre units provide maximum torque of 130Nm at 4,000 rpm; the 100PS version accelerates from 0- 60mph in just 11.5 seconds and has a top speed of 115mph. The ecoFLEX technology pack includes a Start/Stop system with a high-performance battery, heavy-duty starter, optimised generator and an 'eco' switch allowing its activation or de-activation; in addition, it also features an Eco Drive Assistant that monitors energy consumption and indicates when to shift up. The Ecoflex's 16" wheels and special low-rolling resistance tyres complete the package and help the Adam achieve exceptional frugality in the combined cycle. The Adam 1.2 ecoFLEX has fuel consumption of 56.5mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 118 g/km while both 1.4 ecoFLEX models consume 55.4mpg and have emissions of just 119 g/km.

Vauxhall is also developing a new generation small petrol engine that will premiere in the Adam later in its life. This all-aluminum unit will feature direct injection, turbocharging and Start/Stop technologies for further enhanced efficiency and performance. It will be combined with an all-new generation six-speed manual transmission.

SPECIFICATION AND PRICING

Vauxhall Adam not only provides more individuality than its competitors, with a high level of standard equipment and affordable options, it also offers more car for the money.

Take Adam JAM - for just £11,255 it gets, 16inch Horns alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, CD player with USB facility and aux-in socket, DMB digital radio, bluetooth connectivity, trip computer and cruise control all as standard. Moving up to GLAM from just £12,650 it gets all of the equipment as seen on the JAM plus climate control, 16inch vintage alloys, a fixed glazed sunroof and LED daytime running lights and tail lamps. Moving up again SLAM adds the 17inch hurricane wheels, a two tone roof pack, Morracana seats and sports suspension all for just £13,150.

The extensive option list also proves that customisation no longer has to cost the earth. Affordable options such as printed headliners (£100), the interchangeable décor panels (£70), the state of the art-IntelliLink system (£275) and the ambient lighting package (£125) to mention just a few.

2013 Toyota Corolla Levin ZR

2013 Toyota Corolla Levin ZR
October 18, 2012. The 11th generation of the world's best-selling car introduces substantial gains to overall performance as well as enhancing Corolla's DNA of quality, durability and reliability.
New Corolla delivers more power and better on-road dynamics while fuel consumption and emissions have been lowered across the range.
While improving Corolla's standard equipment at every level, Toyota has reduced prices on three grades - Ascent, Ascent Sport and Levin SX - while holding prices on the luxury Levin ZR.
The entry price for the new Corolla Ascent hatch has been sharpened by $1,000 to just $19,990* - the best recommended retail price among small-car competitors from Mazda, Ford, Holden, Hyundai and Volkswagen.

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Matthew Callachor said the new range reflects Toyota's determination to engineer more appealing, dynamically engaging cars.
"Corolla is an incredible success story with more than 1.2 million sold in this country," Mr Callachor said.
"It has created a unique presence in the Australian psyche as the best-selling Toyota in Australia while developing a brand image of great importance with its long-established reputation for quality, durability and reliability," he said.
"The new Corolla hatch will build on that heritage with performance, style, quality and value that will excite a new generation of buyers."
"It delivers the European styling and advanced technology demanded by today's small-car buyers - whether they are young singles or couples, 'empty nesters' or families needing an extra car."
"Improvements in every aspect of the new-generation Corolla will underpin further sales success."
Australian Corollas are fitted with a revised 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that develops more power at 103kW.
At the same time, engine enhancements, aerodynamic improvements, weight management and chassis tuning have contributed to dynamic and efficiency gains across the range.
A new seven-speed MultiDrive S-CVT transmission provides a seamless automatic shift mode or a sequential, stepped seven-speed Sport mode.
It helps lower fuel consumption and emissions by more than 10 per cent to as low as 6.6 litres/100km** and 152g/km of CO2 on the combined cycle** - better even than the six-speed manual.
In automatic mode, the system is optimised for quietness and fuel economy, matching the transmission to the engine at all times by monitoring accelerator pedal angle, vehicle speed and braking force.
In Sport mode, the system is optimised for response and direct engine control with close-ratio upshifts and a direct downshift feeling for precise cornering control under braking and deceleration.
Every Corolla comes with seven airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-skid brakes, six-speaker audio, cruise control, Bluetooth™^ connectivity, air-conditioning and seatbelt warning alarm for all five seats.
Corolla has a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
Pricing has been reduced for the Ascent Sport by $1,500 and for Levin SX by $1,100 despite the addition of substantial extra equipment. Levin models now have 17-inch alloy wheels.
Top-of-the-range Corolla Levin ZR maintains its price even though it gains HID headlamps with adaptive front lighting and automatic high beam. It also has the option of a new Skyview™ panoramic roof.
Although Corolla has been a mainstay of the Japanese car industry, the latest model also benefits from extensive research and evaluation in Europe.
Toyota's focus on European buying preferences - which are broadly similar to Australian tastes - has delivered edgier styling.
New Corolla displays the more confident and agile face of Toyota with a low, sloping bonnet and reduced overall height that accentuate the hatch's sleeker, more streamlined appearance.
Its Euro-inspired exterior design combines smooth-flowing surfaces with sweeping character lines to provide the sense of agility expected in the small hatch segment.
The resulting aerodynamic benefits contribute to improved fuel efficiency and driving dynamics.
A lighter yet more rigid body shell and revised suspension, steering and seating position offer a more comfortable and engaging drive.
These measures have resulted in a lower centre of gravity that improves high-speed stability and cornering agility.
A spacious and appealing interior benefits from the adoption of high-quality materials and smart packaging that liberates more space for occupants and their luggage.
The interior offers more space and greater comfort for occupants with an emphasis on improved sensory quality and the use of lighting, font, colour and finish to provide a more premium feel.
There is more knee room for rear passengers, a longer cargo floor and increased luggage capacity.
The cabin is noticeably quieter with extensive soundproofing to reduce engine and road noise.
Corolla's MacPherson strut front suspension has been revised while front and rear springs and shock absorbers have been fine-tuned for ride comfort, improved stability and excellent steering response.
A lower hip point and steering-column angle create a more engaging driving position.
The electric power steering is more direct to provide greater response with better feedback and greater agility.
Corolla is the world's best-selling vehicle with more than 39 million Corollas sold in over 140 countries since the first-generation car was introduced in Japan in 1966.
Australia was the first destination for Corolla exports and quickly established itself as Toyota's most popular model in this country.
Local Corolla sales last year totalled just over 36,000. Sales to the end of September this year have exceeded 28,000 - 11.7 per cent more than at the same stage last year.
Corolla, like all new Toyota vehicles, is covered by Toyota Service Advantage with a capped price of $130 for each of up to six scheduled logbook services in the first three years or 60,000km.

The novelties for the Alfa 159 and Alfa 159 Sportwagon

The novelties for the Alfa 159 and Alfa 159 Sportwagon

February 26, 2007. The 159 saloon and Sportwagon return to Geneva, with a number of novelties in terms of outfits, equipment and engines. To start with, the new TI (Turismo Internazionale) sports versions make their debut. This was the name that Alfa Romeo used in the Seventies to distinguish cars with particularly lavish outfits. Today these two simple but glorious letters reappear on the Alfa 159, and offer equipment that includes a low set-up, exclusive 19” alloys, sideskirts, and sporty instrumentation and interiors. Both cars have three-layer 8C Red paintwork and black leather interiors; the first is a saloon equipped with the 260 bhp 3.2 V6 Q4 engine, while the Sportwagon is powered by the 200 bhp 2.4 JTDM.

The four cars on display obviously present the lavish equipment of the different specifications: from luxurious Poltrona Frau® ‘pieno fiore’ leather upholstery to a tri-zone climate system, electric seats and Cruise Control, 7 airbags, the VDC system with a Hill holder, parking sensors, a radio navigator with maps and a voice control telephone.

The new ‘Unique Alfa’ Customisation Programme

The new ‘Unique Alfa’ Customisation Programme

September 5, 2007. ‘Exclusiveness and personality’ have always been distinctive features of the Alfa Romeo brand, a fact borne out by the broad choice of bodies, engines, exterior outfits, interior furnishings and options, enabling customers to order the car that meets their needs and their desire to be different.

To extend this broad choice even further, and in response to the growing number of requests from the market, Alfa Romeo has now developed the ‘Unique Alfa’ Customisation Programme, a new departure for the brand that will enable customers to make their cars even more refined and exclusive.

The new ‘Unique Alfa’ Customisation Programme,

The Alfa Romeo Customisation programme has been available on the entire range for a couple of months, and was born out of the experience of the Alfa 8C Competizione, the model that the brand has chosen to define its strategies with precision and authority. One of the winning features of this lovely GT is the fact that it was conceived to cater for every whim of competent, refined customers, who wish to state their personality by the way they configure their car, transforming a car that is already exclusive into something unique. By the same principle, the ‘Unique Alfa’ Programme, the expression of the best Italian products, now extends this opportunity to the other Alfa Romeo models. Alfa Romeo is one of the most prestigious brands in motoring history, and it indubitably conjures up the art of Italian living, expressed in a perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity, heritage and the avant-garde, beauty and culture. And it is thanks to this propensity for art and beauty that the Alfa Romeo Customisation Programme has taken shape, developing into three different areas that identify the brand’s exclusive values and make its relationship with its customers unique.

The first area, known as ‘Vintage’, reinterprets Alfa Romeo tradition with elegance and modernity: intriguing colours that conjure up the Dolce Vita or victories on the world’s most prestigious racing circuits, chromatic treatments that recall the timeless emotion of the prestigious finish, and upholstery crafted with the care and precision typical of a craftsman’s workshop.

‘Collezione’ is the second area, which invites customers to explore the world of fashion and elegance. The interiors are designed to recreate a sensation of well-being and beauty, underlined by the materials chosen to give a feeling of sensory involvement: soft, perfumed leather covers the seats, facia, and panels; the stitching reveals and underlines the sinuous, elegant shapes; the real metal inserts propose different finishes. On the exterior, multi-layer lacquered paints give an extra touch of elegance to the lines of the body, drawing attention to the ornamental elements and the alloys with their luminous sparkle finish.

The third and final area of the ‘Unique Alfa’ programme is ‘TI’ (Turismo Internazionale), which obviously harks back to Alfa Romeo tradition, where racing and competitions have always played an important part in the development of cutting-edge technologies designed to guarantee the proverbial enjoyment of driving an Alfa Romeo, and safety in all driving conditions. The heritage of technological culture and a passion for the product have laid the foundations for the development of this area, which addresses customers who are particularly demanding where performance, dynamic behaviour and sporty personality are concerned, with mechanical components such as a low stance, boosted braking system, alloy wheels and high performance tyres. And in the immediate future, this exciting catalogue will also incorporate other features to raise the performance of the powerful Alfa Romeo engines even higher.

Alfa Romeo Mi.To

 Alfa Romeo Mi.To

March 14, 2008. An up-to-date and innovative car, a name redolent of history. The name Mi.To has great evocative resonance for Alfa Romeo, since it was chosen as a sign of a deep-seated link between the past and future of the brand: between Milan, the city of design that brought the car's style into being, and Turin, which will be responsible for its industrial production. A decision that highlights the brand's strong desire to consolidate its Milanese roots.

The Alfa Romeo Mi.To is the first car to be built since the 8C Competizione, Alfa Romeo's icon of style and technology, from which it borrows certain characteristic traits: the particular shape of the unframed side windows, the three-lobed motif that distinguishes the front bumper, the shape of the headlights and the LED tail lights. The headlights and tail lights represent a distinctive personalised feature: a frame featuring different forms of material processing and colours to create an ultra-stylish eye-liner effect that underscores the car's style and aggression.

Alfa Romeo Mi.To,

The highly personal dashboard and seats ensure that the interior represents the ultimate expression of Italian style, welcoming yet sporty, with top-quality materials and the closest attention to detail.

The greatest thought has also gone into defining the dimensions, which add up to a compact and dynamic shape: the Alfa Romeo Mi.To is 4.06 metres long, 1.44 metres high and 1.72 metres wide.

Style, design, and more: performance and technology must always be top-of-the-range in an Alfa Romeo. As all the brand's models, the Alfa Romeo Mi.To is able to appeal to the most demanding customers with its exciting driveability, determined partly to the Alfa DNA system. This control acts on the engine, brakes, steering, suspension and gearbox, allowing three different vehicle behaviour modes based on the driving style best suited to the situation or the customer's wishes: supersporting (Dynamic), town driving (Normal), maximum safety even in difficult grip conditions (All-Weather). Mi.To is the first car in its segment to offer such innovative technological content.

Great performances are guaranteed by a range of 4 engines, all Turbo (petrol and diesel), that currently range from 90 hp up to 155 hp, with the range due to be extended by even higher power ratings.

Performance and handling have been developed and optimised to offer maximum driving satisfaction in complete safety. The Alfa Romeo Mi.To offers true Alfa Romeo sporting ride, featuring contractive suspensions - standard on all specifications and engines - that considerably reduce roll and maximum active, passive and preventive safety: VDC stability system as standard and a vehicle structure that is already designed to obtain the top EuroNCAP rating in the future.

The Alfa Romeo Mi.To will be introduced to the international press during June and will then be gradually introduced from July in all the major markets.

PANDION A DREAM ALFA ROMEO BY BERTONE

PANDION A DREAM ALFA ROMEO BY BERTONE

May 3, 2010. After a two year absence from the international scene, Bertone returned to the Geneva Motor Show, unveiling the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept car: an aggressive yet beautiful coupé designed as a tribute to Alfa Romeos' one hundred year anniversary.

The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept: an extreme and controversial sports car in typical Bertone fashion. The size of the concept car (4620 mm in length, 1971 mm wide, 1230 mm high, 2850 mm wheelbase) offers a compact sports car external dimensions with a large sports car interior feeling, all powered by a 4.7 litre, 450 CV 8-cylinder Alfa Romeo engine.

PANDION A DREAM ALFA ROMEO BY BERTONE,

The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept is the first car produced by Mike Robinson in his new role as Design and Brand Director at Bertone. A pure 'dream car', the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept takes its rightful place as a member of Bertone's historic Alfa Romeo family: cars that have always been style icons, influencing the history of the automobile and Italian craftsmanship in their excellent design quality, proving themselves to be undisputed benchmarks for the entire world of car design.

The name comes from the animal world, as Pandion Haliaetus is the scientific name for an Osprey: a sea hawk that nests and lives in coastal areas. The designers, led by Mike Robinson, have drawn inspiration from the wings of this predator to invent the spectacular door opening mechanisms, and from the hawks' facial markings to project the traditional Alfa family feeling into the next era of design.

Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept

In almost a century of Bertone tradition, it is not the first time that natural wonders have inspired the names of concept cars. Just think of the Corvair Testudo (1963) and, by no coincidence, the Alfa Romeo Canguro (1964), Carabo (1968) and Delfino (1983).

Design: the initial concept

The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept's taut and muscular body is the result of an original interpretation of the Alfa Romeo badge, where the man-eating snake depicted there represents the attraction of elegance (what we call the 'Skin'), and the aristocratic cross symbolises the rigour of rational thought, the technological aspect (what we call the 'Frame'). According to this interpretation, the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept's design is, like every Alfa Romeo, a perfect synthesis between 'Skin and Frame', an ideal balance resulting from a tension between opposites: technology and sensuality, rationality and instinct, architecture and sculpture, structuralism and organicism, industrial excellence and excellent craftsmanship.

The design of the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept is based on a concept Robinson calls: "Skin & Frame" - a new interpretation of the inherent duality in the 100 year old Alfa Romeo logo. "Skin" refers to the snake in the logo, representing the world renowned Italian excellence in beautiful, seductive forms; and "Frame" refers to the cross in the logo, representing the mechanical excellence in high performance Italian race cars. The combination of the two has now become a dynamic dial searching for an ideal balance resulting from the tension between opposites: technology and sensuality, rational and emotional, architectural layout and sculptural form, structural and organic, industrial excellence and artisan excellence.

According to this interpretation, the vibrant energy in every Alfa Romeo is represented by Pandions' spinal structure (or 'Frame'), which crosses the length of the car from the V-shaped grille in the nose of the car to the V-shaped bumper in the tail of the car, crossing the interior as a visually aesthetic structural element which supports the surrounding shell (or 'Skin').

Design: details that count

The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept's front end features a long and sculpted sloping bonnet that creates what is, to all intents and purposes, a mask, almost like the helmets worn by ancient warriors. The Alfa Romeo 'family feeling', immediately recognizable at first glance, does not admit even a hint of retro nostalgia and looks to the future with a revolutionary and novel elegance. There is no doubt it's an Alfa Romeo with a look that has never been seen heretofore. The typical Alfa quad headlights are buried deep in the outer-most tips of the T-shaped grille, highlighting the wide stance of the impressive coupé. Four white bars of light strike the observers' curiosity, two position lights above and two fog lights below, creating a virtual bi-plane of light at night. The typical five horizontal bars on every Alfa Romeo radiator grille are just visible here, offering a reference to the marque's historic identity. The front grille is full of thousands of tiny intertwined blades which contribute to the new Algorithmic Design throughout the car.

The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept has the profile of a true sports car, with no room for compromise. The architectural layout is 'cab rearward', meaning the passenger compartment is positioned towards the rear of the car and the long bonnet pushes the car's visual centre rearward. The body side visually connects the sensuous front end with the razor-edged rear by means of an extremely long flowing side window which stretches from front wheel arch to rear, enhancing the excellent accessibility of this low-bodied sports coupé. Since sports cars are traditionally difficult to get in and out of, this important ergonomic activity has been facilitated with an extra wide door opening to make up for the low roofline. This new graphic formula not only adds a striking new visual division between the upper and lower parts of the body, but it also offers an incredible panorama window for passengers inside. The strong diagonal dark-light division in the rear of the side view accentuates the powerful rear wheel drive layout and draws special attention to the hidden door opening mechanism.

The rear end features a striking array of crystal-like blades which are intertwined in various widths and lengths, protruding out into space. The rear of the car in fact has a disembodied or "pixilated" look, representing a tail-of-the-comet metaphor, as if the sheer speed of the vehicle is pulling the underlying, technical "Frame" rearward, away from the sensuous, flowing "Skin" above. This "dematerialization" phenomenon of the car is generated by the intrinsic motion of the form, which means the car looks like it is moving even when it is standing still.

There are also two small fixed white shields below the rear bumper which hold the quad tailpipes, creating a visual continuation of the white side panels which seem to wrap around under the car.

The taillights are fully integrated into the organic tangle of the blades and disappear when turned off. The new Alfa Romeo family feeling is again visible in the rear of the car with same V-shaped bumper found on the front of the vehicle, which the travels the entire length of the body, forming a powerful virtual, Alfa Romeo backbone.

The doors, as in many other Bertone-designed masterpieces (such as the 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo, the 1970 Lancia Stratos 0, the 1972 Lamborghini Countach, and the 2007 Fiat Barchetta), open in a visually striking manner. Virtually hinged around the axis of the rear wheel, the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept doors open by rotating backwards, ending up a perfect 90 degrees above the center of the rear wheel, lifting up the entire body side of the vehicle, from the front fender to the rear fender. When fully open they are more than 3.6 metres high. This spectacular solution is design mainly for glamour, bringing back the "wow" factor to today's lackluster automotive industry. This futuristic door mechanism also has a pragmatic side as well. Since all 'extreme' sports cars are literally impossible to get in and out of, the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept is designed to utilize the horizontal space in the car since the vertical space is so limited.

In the event of an accident that results in a 'roll-over', the doors detach from the car body so that the passengers can exit of the car.

The interior: minimalist glamour

The shapes that make the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept spring to life are the result of a design study aimed at creating an organic whole, without resorting to short-cuts to ensure continuity between the interior and exterior, a perfect balance between architectural rigour and the spectacular shapes of living organisms.

The design language used to create the passenger compartment has resulted in a fluid environment, due to the fittings that seem to have grown spontaneously, without ever having been either designed or constructed. We have named this expressive code, never seen before in the automotive sector until today, algorithmic design. The concept, taken from the world of mathematics, indicates an organic alternative to traditional design and is the 'propagation of random forms'. It is as if the design were following a kind of complex development which is neither linear nor geometric, generating an 'auto-organising' shape, with the 'spontaneous growth' of algorithms such as 'swarms' or 'vines'.

When observing the interior of the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept, the first things that draw our attention are the front seats. The car's layout is typical of Alfa Romeo coupés, i.e. 2+2. While the two rear seats are the classic 'extra spaces', the front seats are two incredibly thin (30 mm) ergonomic chaise longue chairs. They have carbon fiber shells (that mimic the style of the car's exoskeleton or 'skin') covered in Technogel® and backlit with reLIGHT® fabric, that conforms to the shape of the driver's or passenger's body. The principle that inspired the designers was that of 'zero gravity', i.e. a warm and welcoming environment that would convey a sensation of enhanced quality of life inside at first sight, but… with zero gravity.

In fact, all the furnishings inside the passenger compartment all tend to float visually, suspended in the magic of the blue light. Behind these minimalist choices however lies a careful study of ergonomics: the seats are the result of a perfect synthesis between high performance, flexibility and lightness. The clear floor is illuminated in the same "swimming pool blue" color of the seats, offering a spectacular visual continuation of the voluptuous seats, with its' flowing contours where the driver and passenger can feel protected in a truly glamorous shell.

The steering wheel is clearly that of a sports car, while the controls are similar to those of Alfa Romeo race cars, with two analogue dials placed directly on the steering column. Three of the four LCD screens offer a rear view inside the passenger compartment (two on the sides, one on the windscreen) and they are directly connected to the external video cameras that substitute the rear view mirrors normally placed outside the car. The larger screen placed in the centre (9"), in the middle of the console - and within reach of the passenger as well as the driver - also displays information on the car's systems (air conditioning, sound systems, Sat Nav, etc…).

Conclusion

'We are walking in the footprints of giants.' That is the Bertone company motto. The giants referred to are Giovanni and Nuccio Bertone. However, following in their footsteps does not mean copying them, on the contrary. It means applying their teachings and using them as guidelines for further advances. We ask our designers to follow a total creative method, where they observe phenomena that are apparently unrelated to each other and try to apply them to the automotive world.

However design research is not enough. At Bertone we study concepts, and therefore each design is the result or a spinoff of an innovative idea or a new phenomenon. Mike Robinson, Design & Brand Director at Bertone, comments: 'Cars are like films: they must tell a story to win people over. The best car designers are necessarily excellent narrators and their products, whether they are concept cars or mass-produced products, reflect their creators' ability to gather fascinating ideas from every field, from all over the world, to bring them together and transform them into new and great stories. This is what we have attempted to do with the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept.'

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina

May 18, 2010. To mark its 80th anniversary, Pininfarina proposes an “open” Alfa Romeo that is exciting and a delight to drive

For those who still like to dream in a car. For those looking for a mixture of vanity, entertainment, and the pleasure of life in the open air. For those who love icons as the greatest expression of the age we live in. For those who want their cars to be an uncommon sensory experience in terms of both style and driving, without being obsessed by performance. For those who want to be excited by a dynamic, sporty car that transmits the exclusiveness and refinement typical of an Alfa Romeo spider designed by Pininfarina.
For all of them, we present the 2uettottanta.

2uettottanta: a name that evokes the legendary Duetto, but also the years of activity at Pininfarina, which launches the celebrations for its 80th anniversary with this concept car. And it has decided to do so with a type of car that is by definition, the work of Pininfarina: an Alfa Romeo spider. A very Italian product, which has become an export brand, representing the inexhaustible talent that the whole world associates with Italy.
The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina,

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina,

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina,

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina,

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina,

The spider of the future as seen by Pininfarina,

The 2uettottanta reflects Pininfarina’s determination to look to the future with optimism following tradition, restating its excellence in design and its acknowledged capacity for aesthetic and technological innovation. It is a concept that represents an innovative approach, projected into the third millennium, to a topic that is firmly rooted in Pininfarina history, the 2-seater spider. And like the best Alfa Romeo sports cars to come from Pininfarina’s pencil, the 2uettottanta exalts the driving experience and concentrates on the excitement of being at the wheel of an open car with a great aesthetic personality. It is a car that can make people dream and excites even after many years. The icon of a lifestyle that harks back to a lively, tumultuous period. Like the Duetto of the Sixties, which helped to establish a trend based on the themes of rebellion and escape, thanks to the film “The Graduate”.

The 2uettottanta is also a tribute to Alfa Romeo, which celebrates its centenary in 2010: the alliance between Alfa Romeo and Pininfarina is one of the most significant and durable in the history of the car, one of men and of passion, of design and cutting-edge technical solutions, which has generated an inestimable number of good-looking, innovative cars with plenty of temperament. With a predilection for sports cars and convertibles. The aim is to replicate all this with the 2uettottanta. So a clean, elegant line was chosen for this "simple 2-seater", which is proposed with a 1750 cc turbo engine positioned longitudinally, an obvious reference to the “1750 Veloce” of 1968, one of the many versions derived from the famous “Osso di Seppia” (Cuttlefish). With its red bodywork, inspired by the typical Alfa Romeo paintwork, the 2uettottanta is 1797 mm wide, 4212.6 mm long, 1280 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2500 mm.

The pleasure of driving and feeling in harmony with nature is transformed into light, sleek, refined volumes, and shapes that seem to slip through the air easily. This generates the theme of this concept: the expression of a single volume, which is some way from the ground and suspended. The 2uettottanta almost seems to lift up from the ground “going further”. It is an optical effect achieved thanks to a line that crosses the whole car horizontally. An uninterrupted sign applied to dynamic, sporty proportions – typical of Alfa Romeo spiders – accentuated by the configuration of the passenger compartment, which is shifted significantly to the rear. The force of the design lies in its exaltation of simplicity, which does not need to show its muscles but concentrates purely on agility and harmony.

The front end of the 2uettottanta underlines its true Alfa Romeo character. The design is simple, with a central line that runs smoothly along the nose of the car, while the execution of the surfaces is more sophisticated. At the centre, in full view, and anything but a purely decorative element, is the Alfa Romeo shield, which seems to emerge from the heart of the car and to stretch outwards, in Pininfarina’s futuristic, three-dimensional approach. The shield is made of aluminium and incorporates floating horizontal flaps. On either side are the two triangular lateral air intakes. The two elements impressed on the imposing bonnet create a natural link between the logo and the large windscreen, which has been designed as a ring in hand-beaten aluminium that emerges from the body of the car without interrupting its flow. The front headlights, which adopt the latest LED technologies, are embedded under the line that gives the whole car its character. A strip of carbon in the lower part of the front acts as an air splitter, channelling the air to the rear end of the car.

The side view of the car, where the theme of the single volume is repeated, highlights the flowing line of the whole, with the shapes merging naturally. The horizontal line “cut” into the sides gives a sense of great dynamism; it starts from the front wheelarch and extends back to the rear wheel. Like an athlete, for a car, being slim also means achieving aerodynamic efficiency. Pininfarina has always strived for natural shapes that can convey efficiency and respect of the environment, an approach confirmed by its great commitment to the theme of eco-sustainable mobility. The 2uettottanta is in perfect harmony with nature, becoming the formal expression of a response to the needs of our day: it is an arrow that flies through the wind almost without encountering resistance.

Smooth, essential, soft surfaces even at the rear, which echoes the front, albeit with slightly more emphasis on the muscles. The design combines stylistic simplicity with a strong character in the volumes and proportions, with details designed to underline the car’s dynamic, light personality. The two bumps seem to emerge from the volume, becoming floating wings that create the roll-over bars behind the seats. At either end, these bars generate an appendix designed to hold the seat belts. Even at the rear the light clusters are slender and embedded under the line that defines the whole section.

Great attention went into the design of the interior. The result is a spacious, comfortable passenger compartment, conceived with light, dynamic volumes, which envelop the occupants in a strong, reassuring embrace. The shapes are sewn into the leather, incorporating the touch controls: in its functions, the 2uettottanta is faithful to its vocation as a car designed to be a delight to drive. The facia extends fluidly to the sides merging into the doorway as the natural continuation of the volume of the car, thus creating a perfect symbiosis between exterior and interior. The dashboard has a driver-oriented configuration with an innovative approach to the classical circular Alfa Romeo “tubes” that contain the instruments. The tunnel contains the Alfa DNA gear selector in an ergonomic position; this varies the set-up of the car in three modes, Dynamic, Normal and All Weather, adapting the behaviour of the various systems on the vehicle (engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, etc.) to the demands of the driver and the different driving conditions. The tunnel runs through the passenger compartment and it gives structure to the chassis, revealing the carbon elements: the choice of this material reflects Pininfarina’s constant research into alternative materials that can make vehicles lighter, reducing consumption and emissions. Another strong element of the interior is the steering wheel, which is a modern interpretation of the Duetto’s perforated three-spoke wheel, with the addition of a shift paddle for sequential control of the dual-clutch gearbox. An enjoyable drive and comfort are also guaranteed by the anatomical sporty seats. All the interior of the car “floats”: the ventilation ducts are positioned between the passenger compartment and the hull.

The size and design of the tyres, which were created specifically for the 2uettottanta in collaboration with Dunlop, accentuate the impression of strong character and force given by the car. The tyres are of the low profile type, right on the extreme edges of the plane view: designed by Pininfarina to incorporate the innovative technologies developed by Dunlop, their graphics reflect those of the car. Their aerodynamic shape and very smooth lateral profile, guarantee better roadholding and less resistance to air, thus reducing consumption. The rims are treated in aluminium in harmony with the rest of the car, and are a free interpretation of the classic five-circle Alfa Romeo pattern, revealing the high performance carbo-ceramic Alfa Romeo brakes by Brembo.

The 2uettottanta is not a pure styling exercise, but also a project and research: the goal is to grasp the spirit of the spider in the configuration, the proportions and the conception of the car as well as in its stylistic imprint. This working method is part of Pininfarina’s genes. For this project, the Pininfarina creative team were given carte blanche to express the values inherent in the Alfa spider “by Pininfarina”, the values that are deemed to have made the Giulietta Spider or the Duetto all-time classics. To achieve this result, the car was given a particular set-up, with a low centre of gravity and a passenger compartment that is very exposed so as not to isolate the occupants from the surrounding environment. The result is to bring the road “nearer” to the eyes of the driver and to increase the sense of dynamism even at low speed.

What is the 2uettottanta effect? Desire. Whoever sees it “must” possess it, drive it, enjoy it. Because the 2uettottanta is not an unattainable dream. Nor does the 2uettottanta only want to impress at first glance, but to achieve a beauty that does not strive solely for immediate confirmation, but gradually reveals all its values and transfers them to the future, making the style eternal. As it did in the case of the Duetto, which continues to be celebrated as an icon of design after more than 40 years.
